Monitoring - you asked; we listened

As a result of the expectations on schools for filtering and monitoring, in both KCSIE and the DfE standards, schools have been asking us to provide an LGfL monitoring service.

Unlike filtering, monitoring is not just about websites, and it isn't about blocking things. Instead, it gives you context on student behaviour across all applications and devices. This helps safeguarding teams to see the journey a user has been on, with information on what they have typed, visited and read, in order to highlight concerning behaviour, communication or access.

If you know WHY and WHAT happened, then it is much easier to keep children safe. We are delighted to say we have procured TWO systems from market-leading provider SENSO:

Unmanaged Monitoring

This automated system captures concerning user behaviour from all devices and applications. The information is fed into a user-friendly portal for school staff to examine and process.

LGfL-SENSO will be including unmanaged monitoring software for free to the majority of schools adding even more savings to your Let’s Get Digital Broadband subscription.

Managed Monitoring - COMING SOON

What is Manageded Monitoring? A service that combines human moderation and Senso software to monitors students’ activity on a range of devices. The Managed Monitoring Team: Monitor logs that are generated through keystroke violation. Triage them for you and notify nominated contacts in school of any urgent or critical violations. This allows you to act quickly in the knowledge that these are the priority issues for schools to deal with.

LGfL-Senso's new managed monitoring service to safeguard children is being launched alongside the unmanaged service.

We are currently trialling it in schools to ensure everything is as it should be, and it will be open to more customers from December for a charge.

With the managed monitoring service, schools retain access to the same state-of-the-art portal, all the captures and contextual information, but a dedicated team screens all captures to remove false positives, sends medium alerts to the DSL for review, and picks up the phone to school whenever there is a critical or urgent concern that needs immediate attention.

What to Expect… 24 hour monitoring from Senso software. Human moderation between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday. Operate throughout holidays. Staff will classify violations as False Positive, Needs Investigating, Urgent or Critical. Phone call and email alerts for Urgent and Critical Violations. Weekly reports showing the number and nature of safeguarding concerns.

Advanced Linguistics to Keep Children Safer!

More about SENSO - linguistics

SENSO is an innovative monitoring provider which is well-known in the market for its approach to safeguarding technologies. One feature in which it is really leading the way is linguistics.

The Nottingham-based company has been a trailblazer in this often underlooked area, working with university linguistics researchers who design complex models to spot the warning signs of a safeguarding concern. SENSO works with these academics to process and analyse vast amounts of language data to identify trends which AI alone (and yes, they use that too!) cannot.
